Nonviolence International has long supported nonviolent resistance to occupation in Western Sahara. In 2015, NVI Palestinian-American co-founders, Mubarak Awad and Jonathan Kuttab visited occupied Western Sahara and engaged in Palestinian-Western Sahara solidarity meetings. NVI currently supports a coalition of citizens and organizations working together to provide nonpartisan, unarmed civilian protection to the Khaya Family. At the invitation of the family, four members of our team have traveled to Boujdour, Western Sahara in March 2022 to help protect the family and interrupt the siege of their house. We probably saved their lives. Support our ongoing efforts to promote nonviolence and Unarmed Civilian Protection for these courageous women leaders in Western Sahara.
