Women of the Sun

Women are at the heart of every resilient community. In Palestine, they are not only sustaining families and communities through immense challenges, but also leading efforts for peace, justice, and social transformation.

Women of the Sun is a Palestinian women-led grassroots organization founded in 2021, in Bethlehem. It was established to amplify the voices of Palestinian women and strengthen their role in peacebuilding, community development, and decision-making processes. Over the years, the organization has evolved into a recognized movement working locally and internationally to advance women’s rights, nonviolence efforts, community resilience, and sustainable peace.

They envision a just, safe, and inclusive Palestinian society where women are empowered leaders in peacebuilding, economic development, and decision-making. All their work is focused on strengthening Palestinian women’s leadership, economic independence, legal awareness, and participation in peace and security processes at local, regional, and international levels.

Their work on the ground includes:

Community Empowerment Programs
Workshops and initiatives that build leadership skills, legal awareness, and civic participation among Palestinian women.

Economic Resilience
Support for women-led initiatives that strengthen financial independence and local livelihoods.

Trauma Healing & Social Support
Programs addressing the psychological impact of conflict, including safe spaces and peer support networks.

Emergency Assistance
Provision of essential supplies for families affected by crisis, including food, hygiene products, and support for mothers and children.

Women of the Sun contributes to building a more inclusive and resilient society by:

  • Expanding women’s participation in leadership and civic spaces
  • Supporting economic stability for women and their communities
  • Increasing access to legal knowledge and rights awareness
  • Creating spaces for healing, solidarity, and collective action

Their work strengthens both immediate community resilience and long-term pathways toward peace.
